How do I count words in a document?

Does this count spaces as characters?
You control that with the Include Spaces toggle. When on, every space counts toward the character total. When off, only non-space characters are counted. Both modes update instantly.
How is reading time calculated?
Reading time is based on an average adult reading speed of 200 words per minute. A 1000 word article would take approximately 5 minutes to read at this rate.
What counts as a sentence?
Sentences are counted by splitting on period, exclamation mark, and question mark endings. Abbreviations and decimals may slightly affect the count, but results are accurate for standard prose.
Can I use this for Twitter or Instagram character limits?
Yes. Toggle Include Spaces on to get the full character count including spaces, which is how Twitter and Instagram count characters. Twitter allows 280 characters and Instagram captions allow up to 2,200.
